Bobby Flay - Boy Meets Grill
Well, my cable has been down for 6 days now and I'm forced to my sidekick for email, the web and etc. Not bad. I can do all essential functions from here but the general f-ing off - do on the www (keeping up with CES for example) is a bit cumbersome. Since I have no school and am off of work this week, it has forced me to do the unthinkable . . . Watch Bobby Flay on "Boy Meets Grill" for the first time.
What do I think? Well the execs must be reading our site because many of the things we've complained about have been fixed. The show itself reminds me a bit of Jamie Oliver's old "Naked Chef." It's just Flay in his kitchen. No guests to be rude to. No corn has been used (but it has been mentioned twice...old habits I guess. I still give him points for effort). Those are both pluses. Gone is the arrogant jerk from the past who garnishes eveything with corn. Sounds great, right?
This next paragraph is going to make some of you angry. "Can she never be satisfied," you will say. "He's mellowed out, what the blog said he should do years ago. She should just shut up," I hear you say.
You may have a point, but I'm going to say it anyway. The new "mellow" Bobby is even worse, in some ways, than the arrogant ass Bobby. He comes across as cardboard and personality-less in this new show. Maybe everyone was right and the brash New Yorker was an act and he's really just a boring, static, uninteresting character. That is what it seems. I mean he has no personality at all in this new show. He sounds as if he's reading recipes and cue cards instead of excited about food.
Just thought I would share. I've been avoiding the show because of Booby but I was bored enough to watch and the "wtf" is this thought going my head the entire time inspired me to write. Do I want Bobby to be an arrogant ass? Heck, even that is better than a cardboard cutout. Come on Bobby!
